Let me give you a mental picture of how our study session started going last night (and please keep in mind that this is just 1 example of our progress)!
At around 9:00, I looked up at Ray (sitting across the table from me) and said something like “Dammit! I just can’t memorize this ONE part!” He looked at me and started singing the Star Spangled Banner! It was both funny and so sweet. He got stuck on a verse that neither one of us knew the exact words to. So, he asked me if I would get on the internet, search for the lyrics, and print them. I did.
For those of you who don’t know, my husband has an awesome voice. But being the idiot I am, along with the fact that I was delirious, I started dancing to The Star Spangled Banner! First, I did a slow dance as a cheerleader. Then, I became a twirling ballerina. Ray stopped to laugh at me. I started laughing but when he started singing again, I started doing Rockett style kicks and was able to end up in a split when he finished the last verse. We both died laughing!
Since my dancing wore me out, I sat down to rest. Ray started singing again. He was insistent on making each word sound as it was meant to. But also being delirious, he started messing up the words. For example, when he was supposed to sing “Gave proof through the night”, he sang, “Gave poo through the night”! We both died laughing!
We thought it was cool hearing The Star Spangled Banner” sung in different voices. So, once he sang it as Louis Armstrong, once as Avery Johnson (Mavs coach), and once as Sesame Street's Oscar the Grouch…which ended up sounding more like Ernie!
After a lot of laughing, Ray set aside the lyrics and said, “I got side tracked! I gotta study! GOTTA BUCK UP!” I laughed at what he said, even though he looked quite serious…and he ended up laughing too!
Our house is a fun place, even when there is serious business to be taken care of!
Studying can be fun! :)
