An added tidbit...

This morning at work was pretty “normal”. My male coworker was talking to his girlfriend in his cubicle (she works in our building). My pregnant coworker was in her cubicle minding her own business. My guess is that she was working on some huge project with a short deadline that “Kate” gave her. I was making a list of all that I have to do/want to do when I am freed from this place this evening. “Kate” was late for work because she was at home waiting for a plumber. Let me add that today is a beautiful day in Dallas, Texas. The sun is shining so bright, and I am fortunate to have a window seat! I guess the picture I am trying to paint is a “normal”, quiet one.

All of the sudden, “Dottie” yells out, “THAT IS SO WEIRD, YA’LL! MY MONITOR JUST TURNED ITSELF OFF!” I looked over towards my male coworker and gave him my usual smile and eye rolling. Instantly, the emails between myself, my male coworker, and my other female coworker started flying! Again, joking is what we do – to keep ourselves sane. Then, about 10 minutes later, she yelled, “OH! I KNOW WHAT HAPPENED! HOW WEIRD…” That was pretty much the end of that. No big finale to that story. I must admit that I wonder what she concluded about her monitor “turning itself off”, but I wouldn’t dare ask her. Her head might start spinning!

I know you’ve heard so much about “Dottie”, but I thought of another interesting story that is pretty recent. And I must share it. One morning, I was at my desk ON TIME. Soon thereafter, I heard “Dottie” come in. She isn’t too awfully late most of the time. I have to give her that. Anyway, she immediately got on the phone. She was whispering. That is how we know it is a personal call. And I did not try to listen in. I just kept doing what I was doing. I noticed that she began talking louder and louder. It was obvious that she was more into the topic than she was when she first got on the phone. A little while later, my male coworker (a pretty young guy) walked in. Almost immediately after he sat down in his chair, “Dottie” (still on the phone) said, “ALL FIREMEN ARE SO SEXY! THAT IS JUST SOMETHING I CANNOT DENY! I DON’T KNOW WHY CAUSE ALL POLICEMEN ARE NOT SEXY…BUT ALL FIREMEN ARE!” with this crazy freak-you-out laugh! Again, I emailed my guy coworker and said, “Hey, did you know that ALL firemen are sexy?!” Being the jokester and good sport he always is, he said something like, “I know a few sexy firemen, but I never thought of them as ALL being sexy. They are all so strong, caring…they are protectors!...” We went on and on! Our emails crack me up as much as the stupid phrase or action that motivated them!
