As you may or may not know, we’ve gotten some cold weather in Dallas! On Wednesday afternoon, it was 80 degrees! I had the a/c on in my car. It was 29 degrees the next morning! FREEZING! It even snowed! I find that crazy because it was still November!
I’ve been looking forward to the weather to get cold for so many reasons. First of all, I love breathing cool, crisp air. It is so refreshing. Also, cold weather is a sign that Christmas is on its way! And something else I really look forward to every winter is seeing our little tan boy, Hobbes, enjoying the cold weather! When the brisk wind hits him in the face, he stops and takes a slow, deep breath in! And he never hesitates to walk on the grass. He confidently steps in the snow, walks to where he wants to do his business, lifts his head, and sniffs the air some more as he tinkles! He cracks me up!
We’ve been running the heater in our house, but I’m not as cold as I usually am because I have a little furnace inside of me. :)
Yoshi, our cat, gets cold quite easily. He likes balling up on someone’s bed and staying real still. Ray and I talk about how much nicer Yoshi is when he’s cold! That might sound silly, but it is true! And I will take advantage of any niceness I can squeeze out of him! ;)
Hobbes likes to cuddle when he is cold. He gets so excited when he sees one of us walking towards the couch. He runs ahead, jumps on, and hardly waits for you to get situated before he tries to start snuggling up with you!
Daisy is unique when it comes to dealing with the cold. She is the same as when she is hot. The only thing she cares about is having her own space to stretch out. And to her, icing on the cake is having a throw pillow nearby for her to lay her head on.
Now our little princess, Mya, is completely different. If Daisy is lying on the couch, Mya will sometimes go lay right next to her (and sometimes partially on her). Mya loves her big sister so much! It is very sweet, but sometimes poor Daisy needs a break! If Daisy isn’t on the couch or if Mya chooses not to bug her, she “hides”. She likes hiding from the cold and unpleasant sounds (i.e., the weather) by using whatever she can find. Her security items of choice are a pillow or a blanket. This morning, I walked into the living room and found her on the couch by herself hiding. This is what I saw:

She usually doesn’t get all the way behind the pillow or under the cover. The most important thing to her is having her head covered. It isn’t uncommon for me to call her name because I worry about her getting overheated while she is hiding out. Sometimes that silly girl comes out panting! I ask her what she is doing and tell her to stop it! This time, I called her name so I could snap a picture! Look at that sweet face:

“Mom, why do you have to take a picture of me now? I was warm under there!”
