The weekend ahead!

I lied! This blog is not pictures of Baby Tse! Sorry! Hopefully, the next one will be! This blog is actually about our upcoming weekend! It will be a big one for Ray and I! First of all, his birthday is Sunday! He’ll be 29! I keep teasing him about almost being 30, which of course, is not a big deal! I never have thought of 30 as old – not even when I was a kid. I don’t really label a person as “old” until they start thinking they are. And another way to get an “old” label from me is to start acting old and decrepit. I already think of my dad as either “old” or well on his way there. He talks and acts like every day is his last. Honestly, he acts worse off at 55 than my Granny did at 92 before she passed away. What a sad way to live, huh?!

ANYWAY, about our BIG weekend…we are so excited about it! On Saturday morning, we’ll fly into Baton Rouge. After we get our rental car, we’ll be driving to visit with my grandparents (my mom’s parents), my mom, Uncle Randy, Aunt Kathy, my cousin Dana, etc! We always enjoy visiting with them. They’re so fun to be around. Also, Ray is going to talk to Uncle Randy about the church he is designing for him. Both Ray and Uncle Randy are really having a good time on this project! After our visit, we’ll be jetting off to our hotel so I can start the process of getting ready for our night ahead! First, we’re meeting my good friend, Mike, for supper at The Chimes.

Then, we’re heading to my 10 year high school reunion!

Yep, it has been 10 years since I graduated. And I tell ya, graduation day seems like yesterday! For years, I always told my friend, Billy, that I probably wouldn’t go. But when the time came, my feelings had changed. I really look forward to seeing people I haven’t seen in 10 years, especially my friends, Billy, LeAnna, and Mike!

(This is an awful picture of LeAnna and I back in ’96!

We were both having a real-ly bad hair day!)

(Mike and I on graduation day. Unfortunately, this is the only picture I have of us.)

(Billy Baby and I our senior year!)

(And again, Billy and I. This picture was taken before Prom. I actually had a boyfriend at the time – long story – but Billy and I went together! I wouldn’t have had it any other way because I had so much fun…much more fun than I would’ve had with anyone else!)

I know many people skip out on their reunions because they say they don’t care about “those people”. I don’t care about them all either, but I must admit that I look forward to seeing them, finding out what they’ve been up to, etc. I know something else people worry about is not having much to show for themselves. A few times in the past, I’ve thought about how I can’t say I finished college nor do I have an awesome job. However, one thing I can and look forward to saying and showing is how happy I am! Life is so good! I live in Dallas and really like it. It is close enough to Louisiana, our former home, for comfort – but is also removed like I like it. I have 3…well, 5 awesome dogs and a pretty cool cat! And of course, I have a wonderful husband and a baby boy on the way! Does life get any better than that?! Sure, I wouldn’t mind a big house or an expensive car, but those things don’t matter to me like I once thought they would.

I really look forward to the reunion! I have a very nice dress and bought accessories to match. And of course, my bump will be showing! How exciting! :)

But even more exciting than the reunion is Ray’s birthday on Sunday! Ray’s mom and step-dad will be driving up from New Orleans to celebrate! It has been several years since we were able to celebrate with them in Louisiana. We’re looking forward to it! Then, we’ll fly back home that afternoon. That night, we’ll celebrate on our own. We’ll have ice cream cake, and of course, he’ll open his present from me.

It will be an awesome weekend!

I also tease Ray by telling him to really enjoy his birthday this year – because next year, he’ll have a curious, clingy little monster that wants to sit with him and be in every picture that is taken! Just like me, he finds that thought so exciting! :)
