This coming Sunday makes 19 weeks for us! We’re just one week short of being halfway there! I’m still enjoying my pregnancy and am in no hurry whatsoever to get it over with. But it does feel good to be making such progress! In addition to new and interesting things happening every day, I know that getting through another day means that Baby Tse is growing and thriving!
Here is some Week 19 info from the American Pregnancy Association I want to share with you:
How big is your baby?
Your baby has grown so much during these 19 weeks but is only 7 ½ inches long and weighs about 7 ounces. Don’t worry, he still has a lot of growing left to do.
What is happening with your baby?
While your baby is continuing to grow, the development that is occurring is very specific. For example, the kidneys are making urine, and hair is beginning to sprout on his scalp. The parts of the brain that are responsible for the senses are specializing.
I really enjoy watching a show called Birth Day on Discovery Health. Today, I watched a few episodes that I’ve recorded in the last week or so. As always, the stories were very interesting, but I learned something too! First of all, being a first time mom, I am what they call a “primipara”. Women who have given birth to one child already are called “multipara”. The show outlined the differences between primiparas and multiparas. Needless to say, generally, things are easier for a multipara. They have a slightly shorter pregnancy and usually a shorter labor. I also learned that the average length of labor for a first time mom is 12-15 hours! Holy smokes, huh?! I REALLY hope Baby Tse works with me!!!!
Yesterday, Ray and I went for a checkup. We heard Baby Tse’s heartbeat. The doctor had no problems finding it. It was loud and clear too! It was wonderful to hear! During our visit, the doctor asked me if I’ve felt him moving. I told her I have. She smiled and said, “That’s great!” I said, “I started feeling him move a week or so ago. It felt like a flutter – like butterflies….but in the last few days, it started feeling like popcorn popping!” She and Ray both laughed. I had not described Baby Tse’s movements to Ray that way, and obviously, the doctor hadn’t heard that description before! But that is exactly what his movement feels like lately! :)
P.S. We try not to blog back to back so none of our entries will get overlooked. But I wanted to blog about this while it was on my mind. So, I’m going to remind you again not to just read the top blog entry. We update our blog pretty often…and for goodness sake, you don’t want to miss anything! :)
